TRGMF Coconut Grove Historical Museum

The Theodore Roosevelt Gibson Memorial Fund, Inc. (TRGMF), has set out to create a museum to preserve the history of Coconut Grove through the new TRGMF Coconut Grove Historical Museum Project. This project aims to help promote the Coconut Grove area with a state of the art museum and also to develop an interactive website that will allow those unable to physically tour the museum, the ability to use a desktop or mobile device to navigate through the museum exhibits and historical artifacts. The museum and exhibits (physical and online), will be designed to engage the South Florida Community as a whole, with emphasis on the elderly, persons with disabilities, students and educators.

This museum is a brand new initiative for the TRGMF and will help build upon our past successful initiatives for the Coconut Grove area and the South Florida community as a whole. Our most recent project is a multimillion dollar development, Gibson Plaza, which consists of income restricted, residential units primarily for seniors 55 and older. This development also includes a 3,800 sqft educational component, which will facilitate both Miami Dade College and the new TRGMF Coconut Grove Historical Museum.

The museum will feature a library of historical books, oral and video history and collections of historical research material and artifacts. These items will be available for viewing at the museum, during regular hours of operation or will be available online, anytime, through our web tour feature.
